Gynandromorph

A gynandromorph is a very special kind of creature, where one half of its body looks like a boy and the other half looks like a girl. This can happen in many different animals, including insects and birds. Scientists think that it happens when the egg from the mama animal gets fertilized by two different sperm at the same time, so half of the animal's cells have XX chromosomes (like a girl) and the other half has XY chromosomes (like a boy).

Sometimes, you might see a butterfly that has one wing that is brown and one wing that is white. In a gynandromorph butterfly, one side might have the colors and patterns of a boy butterfly, and the other side might have the colors and patterns of a girl butterfly. These creatures are very special and rare, and scientists love to study them to learn more about how animals grow and change.
