HNLMS De Zeven Provinciën (1909) was a Dutch warship that helped defend the Netherlands against enemies. It was built in 1909 and was the first warship made by the Royal Dutch Navy. It was powered by steam, making it fast and able to travel long distances quickly. The ship was heavily armed with guns, torpedoes, and mines, which it used to protect the Dutch coast from attack. It was also equipped with a radio, so it could communicate with ships in other parts of the world. The ship served with distinction during World War I and, in 1921, it was sent to Indonesia to help protect the Dutch East Indies. The ship was decommissioned in 1925 and today, it is preserved as a museum ship in Amsterdam.
