Haidinger's brush

Hey kiddo! Have you ever seen a rainbow? Well, Haidinger's Brush is like a mini rainbow that you can see inside your eyes!

You know that our eyes have something called rods and cones. They help us see different colors and shapes. Haidinger's Brush is made by the cones in our eyes.

When we look at a bright, white light, sometimes we can see a faint yellow or blue-gray shape in the middle of it. That shape is called Haidinger's Brush.

It kind of looks like a little hourglass or a butterfly. The yellow part is at the top and the blue-gray part is at the bottom. And when we move our eyes, the shape also moves!

Scientists named this shape after a man named Wilhelm Karl von Haidinger who discovered it in 1844.

So, Haidinger's Brush is just a little rainbow shape that we can sometimes see when we look at bright lights. It's nothing to be afraid of and is very common in our eyes!
