Halocline

The halocline is like a special layer of water in the ocean where the saltiness changes really quickly. It's kind of like a sandwich with different things in each layer. In the ocean, the water can have different levels of saltiness depending on where you are. The halocline is where the saltiness changes really fast, like a jump from salty on top to not so salty on the bottom.

It's like when you mix salty ocean water with your drinking water. At first, it's really salty, but then you add more drinking water, and it gets less salty. That's kind of what happens in the halocline. It's where the salty ocean water mixes with not as salty water and creates a changing layer.

The halocline is important for things that live in the ocean, like fish and other animals. They need a certain level of saltiness to live and survive. When the saltiness changes too quickly, it can affect them and make it harder for them to live.

So even though the halocline might seem like a small thing in the big ocean, it actually has a big impact on the animals that live there.
