Hand spinning

Hand spinning is when we take a clump of fluffy stuff (like wool from a sheep) and use our hands to twist it into a strand of yarn.

To start hand spinning, we first need a tool called a spindle. It looks like a stick with a disc on it. We place the fluffy stuff on the spindle and hold it with our hand. Then we spin the spindle with our other hand. This twists the fluffy stuff and turns it into yarn.

Once we have a bit of yarn, we can wind it onto the spindle to make more room for spinning more fluffy stuff. We repeat this process until we have a whole ball of yarn.

Hand spinning can be lots of fun because we can create our very own unique yarn. We can also choose different colors and textures of the fluffy stuff to make different types of yarn.
