Hands Across America

Okay kiddo, Hands Across America was a really big event that happened a long time ago in 1986. It was organized to help fight against hunger and homelessness in America.

People from all over the country joined in by holding hands in a long chain that stretched all the way from New York City on the East Coast to California on the West Coast.

It was like playing a really long game of Red Rover or London Bridge, except instead of playing, people were standing together with their hands clasped to support a good cause.

The idea was to show that when we work together and help each other out, we can make a big difference and make our country a better place.

So, by holding hands across America, people were showing that they wanted to help the less fortunate and put an end to hunger and homelessness. It was a big symbol of unity and hope for many people all across the country.
