ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Baltic Way

The Baltic Way was a very big thing that happened a long time ago. It was an event where people from three countries (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania) wanted to show the world that they wanted to be free.

Now, imagine you have a really cool toy, but someone takes it away from you and you can't play with it anymore. That's how the people in these three countries felt - someone took their freedom away from them. But they really wanted to have their freedom back and be able to make their own choices.

So, people from all over the countries held hands and made a really long human chain. It was like a really long line of people holding hands and standing close to each other. The line was so long that it went all the way across these three countries!

They made this chain to show the world that they wanted freedom and that they were united in that struggle. They didn't use violence or hurt anyone to get what they wanted. Instead, they used love and togetherness to show how important their freedom was to them.

The Baltic Way was very important because it helped these countries gain their freedom back. It showed the world that people can peacefully come together to fight for what they believe in. And it reminds us that even if we are small, when we are together, we can accomplish great things!
