Haplogroup J2 (Y-DNA)

Haplogroup J2 (Y-DNA) is like a secret code that scientists use to figure out where your daddy's daddy's daddy's daddy's daddy came from a loooong time ago.

Your body has a special instruction book called DNA that tells your body how to grow and work. Half of your DNA comes from your mommy and the other half comes from your daddy. Scientists can look at special parts of your daddy's DNA that don't change much over time and compare them to other people's DNA from all around the world.

They found that lots of people with J2 DNA live in places like the Middle East, North Africa, and Mediterranean area. This means lots of daddies from those areas a long, long time ago had J2 DNA too. It's kind of like a clue to where your family was from a long time ago. Isn't that cool?
