ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hapticity

Hapticity is like a hug for molecules. Just like how you hug your teddy bear tightly, molecules like to hug specific parts of other molecules. Imagine you have two teddy bears, one with two arms and another with four arms. The teddy bear with four arms can give a stronger hug because it can hold on to more things. Molecules also have arms called ligands, which can hug other molecules. The number of arms a molecule has can affect how strong the hug is. This is called hapticity. The more arms a molecule has to hug with, the stronger the bond between the two molecules will be. Think of it like having extra hands to hold onto someone tighter, making the hug even more comforting.
