ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hardware certification

Hardware certification means that somebody who knows a lot about how computers work has checked to make sure that a certain piece of equipment, like a keyboard or a printer, will work properly with a certain computer system. It's kind of like when your mommy or daddy checks to make sure your toys fit together correctly before you can play with them. The person who checks the equipment looks at things like the size of the plugs, the shape of the wires, and how the pieces fit together. If everything is good, they give the equipment a "stamp of approval" that says it's okay to use with that specific computer system. This helps people know that the equipment will work the way it's supposed to and not cause any problems.
