Harmonic parallelism

Harmonic parallelism is when two different music chords share the same letters in their chord notes.

Imagine you have a box of toys with different colors and shapes. Some of them are the same shape but have different colors. That's kind of like harmonic parallelism.

Now let's pretend those toys make sounds when you play with them. Some of the toys make higher-pitched sounds and some make lower-pitched sounds. Just like that, chords can sound different depending on the notes they have.

Harmonic parallelism happens when two chords in a song have the same shape but sound different. So even though they sound different, they share some of the same notes.

Think of it like having two toys that look the same but make different sounds. They might sound different, but they still have something in common. In the same way, two chords with harmonic parallelism may sound different, but they share some of the same notes.
