Okay, so there was this really smart guy named Stephen Hawking who thought about black holes. Black holes are giant things in space that suck up everything around them, even light! It's like a really big vacuum cleaner that never stops. When things get too close to a black hole, they can never come back out.
Now, Stephen Hawking thought about something cool. He thought that black holes could actually give off something called "Hawking radiation". Just like a hot stove gives off heat, black holes could give off this tiny energy that scientists would call Hawking energy. And here's why: black holes are made out of tiny little things called particles. These particles like to pop in and out of existence, even in empty space! When this happens near a black hole, sometimes one particle gets sucked in and the other one floats away. When this happens, the particle that floats away is now what we call Hawking energy.
So even though black holes suck everything up, they also give off Hawking energy. It's like if you eat all your broccoli but then your body makes a little bit of energy out of it. Black holes give off this tiny bit of energy that we call Hawking energy. It's a very special thing that helps us learn more about space!
