Head-driven phrase structure grammar is a way of understanding how language works. Basically, it helps us understand how a sentence is put together. When we make a sentence, the main part (or the "head") is the most important. It tells us what the sentence is about. All of the other words and phrases in the sentence (or the "dependents") help explain or change the meaning of the head. The head-driven phrase structure grammar looks at how the head and dependents in a sentence fit together.
