Health humanities

Health humanities is when people use art, stories, and other creative things to help understand and talk about health and illness.

Imagine you have a picture book that tells a story about a kid who goes to the doctor. By reading this book you might start to understand what it is like to go to the doctor and feel less scared.

Now think about music, movies, or other things people create. Sometimes, people use these things to help them express how they feel when they are sick or going through a tough time. They might write a song about how they feel or create a painting that shows what it is like to be in a hospital.

Health humanities isn't just about creating art. It is also about how we use these things to help understand health and illness. By looking at a painting that shows what it is like to be in a hospital, we might start to pay closer attention to how hospitals affect people. By reading a story about someone with a chronic illness, we might learn how to understand and support our friends and family members who have similar conditions.

So, health humanities is about using creative things like art and stories to help us better understand and talk about health and illness.
