ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Heath Robinson (codebreaking machine)

Hey kiddo! Have you ever heard of the Enigma machine? Well a long, long time ago during World War II, the enemies used this machine to send secret messages to each other. It was really hard for the good guys to understand what the messages said because they were all scrambled up.

So, the good guys needed a way to figure out how to unscramble the messages! And that's where a guy named Heath Robinson comes in.

Heath Robinson was like a really smart inventor, and he helped make a machine that could unscramble the messages. His machine was called the Heath Robinson machine (pretty cool, huh?)

Basically, the machine worked by trying out different combinations of letters until it found the right one. It was kind of like a puzzle, where you have to keep guessing until you figure out the answer.

The Heath Robinson machine helped the good guys figure out the secret messages and helped them win the war! Pretty amazing, right?
