Heating seasonal performance factor

The heating seasonal performance factor (HSPF) is like a number that tells you how much heat a heating system will give you compared to how much energy it uses. It's kind of like a grade for how well the heating system works.

Think of it like this - when you're trying to stay warm in the winter, your heating system takes in energy (like electricity or fuel) and turns it into heat. The HSPF tells you how much heat the system will create for each unit of energy it takes in.

So let's say a heating system has an HSPF of 10. This means that for every unit of energy it uses, it will create 10 units of heat. That's pretty good! It means the system is very efficient at turning energy into heat.

On the other hand, if a heating system has an HSPF of 5, it means it's not as efficient at turning energy into heat. It will only create 5 units of heat for every unit of energy it uses. This means you'll have to use more energy (and spend more money) to get the same amount of heat.

So when you're shopping for a heating system, pay attention to the HSPF rating. Look for a system with a high HSPF rating, because it means it will be more efficient and save you money on your heating bills!
