ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

hash

Hash is like an address for important information on computers. Think of it like a post office that remembers where you put something. Just like the post office, it needs somebody to give it a label to put on the package. That label is like a 'hash', which is a bunch of numbers and letters. The hash is like a special marking for the package so the post office can quickly find it if you need it later. On computers, this is used to quickly find all sorts of important data like passwords and bank accounts.
