Heli-logging

Heli-logging is when a big helicopter is used to help move logs or trees from one place to another, like a lumber yard or a processing plant. This is usually done in places where it is difficult to transport logs using other methods like trucks or boats, for example, in mountainous or remote areas.

First, the helicopter flies to where the trees are located in the forest. Then, the helicopter has a special hook attached to a long rope, and a crew member guides the hook onto a log or bundle of logs. The hook is then attached to the helicopter and the logs are lifted and flown to their destination, where they are unloaded and stored.

Now, it’s important to understand that this is a very specialized job and the team must be very careful when doing it as they are dealing with very heavy loads. The pilots are very skilled and the ground crews work together to make sure that the logs are safely attached and transported. It’s also important to note that heli-logging is not always the best option as it can be expensive and cause damage to the environment.

Overall, heli-logging is a way of using big helicopters to move logs from one place to another where other methods are not possible, with skilled pilots and ground crews working together to ensure safe transport.
