Okay kiddo, do you know that the Sun is a really big ball of fire in the sky that gives us light and heat? Well, a long, long time ago, people used to think that the Sun and all the other planets revolve around the Earth because, well, we're on Earth and it feels like everything is moving around us. This was called geocentrism, which means Earth in the middle.
But then some smarty-pants scientists like Copernicus, Galileo, and Kepler came along and they looked up at the sky and studied how the planets moved. They discovered that actually, the Earth and all the other planets were orbiting around the Sun instead! This was called heliocentrism, which means Sun in the middle.
So now we know that the Sun is the center of the solar system and everything else is moving around it. It's kind of like if you were standing in the middle of a playground and all of your friends were running around you in circles. You would be like the Sun and your friends would be like the planets! Heliocentrism is really important because it helps us understand how our solar system works and it has helped scientists make many more discoveries about space.
