Hellenization means to spread the culture, language, and customs of ancient Greece to other parts of the world.
Let's imagine you have lots of toys, clothes, and books that you really like. You want to share them with your friends so they can have fun and learn new things too. Similarly, Greeks had many cool things that they wanted to share with other people. They wanted to teach others about their language, food, arts, religion, etc.
So, around 2,000 years ago, Greeks started traveling to different places like Egypt, and Asia Minor and they encountered people who spoke different languages and had different customs. They didn't want to force their beliefs on anyone, but they wanted to introduce their ideas in a friendly manner.
Greeks created schools where they taught their language (Greek), philosophy, and sciences. They also built temples and statues of their gods and goddesses to help others learn about their religion. Greeks even introduced their sports and games such as the Olympics to people from other cultures.
Over time, people from these other cultures started to adopt some of the Greek ways of living. This process of adopting Greek ways and culture is what we call Hellenization, and it had a big impact on the world. The spreading of Greek culture helped shape the ancient world, and many people still look up to ancient Greece for inspiration today.
