ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Heritage railways

Heritage railways are like train museums but instead of just looking at old trains, you get to ride on them too! They are old-fashioned railways that were built a long time ago and have been saved from being torn down. They might be steam trains which were used to pull carriages on tracks, or they might be electric or diesel trains. They are a fun way to learn about history, how people traveled long ago, and what the world was like before cars and planes were invented. The train rides are usually short, around an hour or so, and take you through pretty countryside or through towns and cities. You can also see how the train stations used to look, and learn about the different jobs people had on the trains. It's a cool way to learn about the past while riding on a train!
