ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hexagon

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a stop sign or a honeycomb? They both have shapes that look like a six-sided figure, or a hexagon!

A hexagon is like a square or a rectangle, but instead of having four sides it has six. It's a flat shape that's made up of six straight lines that are all the same length.

If you look at a hexagon closely, each of its sides connect to another side at an angle, just like how your backyard fence has pickets that connect to each other.

Now, here is something cool about hexagons, they can tessellate! That means you can connect multiple hexagons together side-by-side without any gaps or overlaps, just like a jigsaw puzzle. This is why hexagons are often found in nature, like in beehives and snowflakes, because they can fit together perfectly.

So there you have it, a hexagon is a shape with six flat sides, each with the same length, that can fit together without any spaces in between. Pretty neat, huh?
