ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hexane

Hexane is a colorless, odorless liquid that is made up of six carbon atoms and 14 hydrogen atoms. It is a type of chemical called a hydrocarbon, which means it is made up of only carbon and hydrogen atoms. People use it for many things, like getting oil out of seeds and making things like glue and gasoline.

But, like all chemicals, hexane can be dangerous if people aren't careful. If you swallow it, breathe it in, or get it on your skin, it can make you sick. So, we need to make sure we only use hexane in safe ways and always follow the instructions on the label.
