High jump (game)

High jump is a fun game where people try to jump over a little rope or stick that is raised higher and higher as they keep playing.

Say you have a toy rope that is lying on the ground, you can jump over it very easily. But when you try to jump over the same rope while it is being held high in the air by two people, it becomes a lot more difficult. The higher the rope is lifted, the harder it is to clear it with your jump.

In the same way, high jump involves jumping over a raised bar that keeps getting higher and higher the more successful you are at clearing it. The bar is supported by two vertical poles called standards that are placed at either end of a stretch of flat ground known as the landing mat.

Players take turns to run towards the bar and jump over it without knocking it down. They use a special technique to help them get over the bar, which involves running at an angle, planting one foot on the ground, jumping up into the air with the other foot, and then lifting their legs up and over the bar.

The winner of the high jump game is the person who manages to clear the highest height without knocking the bar down. High jump is a popular event in track and field competitions and is practiced all around the world.
