Highway revolt

When people started building highways, they had to choose where to put them. Sometimes they wanted to put the highways right through neighborhoods where people lived. This made the people really upset because it would make their houses noisy and dirty, and they would lose their homes. So, the people started to protest and fight against the building of the highways through their neighborhoods. This is called a highway revolt because the people were revolting against the idea of the highways being built through their communities.
