Hilot

Hilot is a type of traditional Filipino medicine that uses massage and other manual techniques to heal the body and promote wellness. It's like getting a really nice massage from someone who knows how to make your muscles feel better!

The word "hilot" comes from an ancient Filipino language and means "to heal." In hilot, the practitioner uses their hands, fingers, and sometimes even their feet to apply pressure and manipulate muscles, joints, and other parts of your body.

Hilot practitioners believe that all the parts of your body are connected, and that if you have a problem in one area, it can affect other areas too. They also believe that the body has its own energy and that the goal of hilot is to balance and restore this energy.

During a hilot session, you might lie down on a mat or sit on a chair, fully clothed or wearing loose clothing. The hilot practitioner will ask you questions about your health and what you want to achieve from the session. They may also ask you to take some deep breaths and relax.

The hilot massage itself can feel really good, sometimes it's like a gentle massage and sometimes it's like a deep tissue massage. It can be done with different types of oils or lotions and the practitioner may use different techniques like stretching or applying pressure to certain points on your body.

After the session, you might feel relaxed and more energized. Some people even report feeling like they're floating! While hilot may not replace medical treatment for certain conditions, it can be a helpful addition to your overall wellness routine.
