ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hindustani grammar

Hindustani grammar is the set of rules that people use to correctly form sentences in Hindi and Urdu languages. Just like when you play with Lego blocks, there are certain ways to put the blocks together to make a castle or a car, there are certain rules to follow when making sentences in these languages.

First, we have to learn about words. Words are building blocks for sentences. Each word has a job to do in sentences. For example, "boy" is a noun - it's a word for a person. "Run" is a verb - it's a word for an action. "Blue" is an adjective - it's a word for describing something.

Next, we have to learn about the structure of sentences. In a sentence, we have a word that is the subject - which is who or what the sentence is talking about. Then, we have a verb that tells us what the subject is doing or what is happening in the sentence. Finally, we have objects, which are the things that are being acted upon in the sentence.

There are also some special bits in a sentence, like prepositions which tell us where things are or how they are related to each other. For example, "in" or "on" are prepositions.

Finally, we have to learn about grammar rules to put all of these things together the right way. For example, we have to know how to match the subject and verb together so that they agree. We also have to know which word order to use, like how in English we say "I went to the store" but in Hindi we say "Main dukar gaya".

Overall, learning Hindustani grammar is like building a Lego structure - it takes practice, patience, and following the rules. But, once we learn how to put all the pieces together, we can make lots of sentences and tell amazing stories!
