Hispanics and Latinos in New Mexico

Hey there kiddo! So, Hispanic and Latino people are a big part of the population in New Mexico. They are people who have ancestors from countries like Mexico, Spain, or other Latin American countries.

A long, long time ago, New Mexico was actually a part of Mexico! That's why there are so many Hispanic and Latino people who live there now. They have a lot of traditions and customs that they brought with them from their heritage.

For example, there's a great big fiesta every year called the "Santa Fe Fiesta" to celebrate the Spanish conquistadors who came to New Mexico a long time ago. The Hispanic and Latino people also brought their delicious foods with them. Have you ever tried tacos, burritos, or enchiladas? Those are all popular Hispanic and Latino dishes!

Nowadays, there are many Hispanic and Latino people who live in New Mexico and they've had a big impact on the state. They are proud of their culture and traditions, and they continue to celebrate them every day.
