History and culture of breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is when a mommy feeds her baby milk from her own body. This has been happening for a super long time, even before there were baby bottles and formula. In fact, it's a really important part of being a mommy for lots of animals, including humans!

Back in olden times, people didn't have fancy machines and bottles to help with feedings like they do now. So mommies had to provide the milk for their babies all by themselves. It was normal for them to breastfeed their babies for a couple of years, which was really healthy for the baby because it gave them all the nutrients they needed to grow up strong and healthy.

As people moved to different parts of the world and got new ideas from different cultures, some mommies started thinking it was weird or embarrassing to breastfeed their babies in public. They might use blankets or special clothes to cover up, so no one could see what they were doing. It's important to know that breastfeeding in public is totally natural and normal!

Nowadays, more and more mommies are choosing to breastfeed because it's really good for both them and their babies. It has lots of health benefits and can help babies grow up to be really smart and healthy. Plus, it's a really special thing that mommies and babies can do together.
