History of Cambodia

Okay kiddo, let me tell you about the history of Cambodia!

Long ago, Cambodia was ruled by kings and queens just like in a fairy tale. The people there were called Khmer and they built many amazing temples and palaces, some of which you can still see today, like the famous Angkor Wat.

But then, a long time ago, new people called the French came and took over Cambodia. They wanted to control the country and make it part of their own big kingdom. This made the Khmer people very angry and there were a lot of fights and protests.

Eventually, in the 1950s, Cambodia became its own independent country again. But not long after that, some bad people called the Khmer Rouge took over. They were very mean and wanted everyone to be equal, so they forced people to work on farms and punished them if they didn't obey. A lot of people were hurt or killed during that time.

Luckily, some good people came and helped stop the Khmer Rouge and bring peace back to Cambodia. Nowadays, Cambodia is a beautiful, peaceful country with friendly people and lots to explore and learn about.
