History of Canada (1982–present)

Alright kiddo, let me tell you a bit about Canada's history starting from 1982 to the present day.

So, in 1982, Canada made a really important change to its constitution. You see, the constitution is like a big rulebook for how the country is run. Before 1982, Canada had to follow the rules set by the British government, but in 1982 Canada made its own set of rules for how it would be governed.

One of the big things that happened after Canada's new constitution was created was that the country started recognizing and respecting the rights of different groups of people. The constitution guarantees that everyone in Canada has the right to be treated equally, no matter what their race, religion, or gender is.

Another big thing that happened during this time was that Canada began to work more closely with the United States and Mexico. They created something called the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which made it easier for companies in all three countries to trade with each other.

Canada has also been working to improve relations with Indigenous peoples, who are the original people who lived in Canada before Europeans arrived. The country has been working to acknowledge the terrible things that were done to them in the past, and to try and make things right.

Overall, Canada has become a more diverse and inclusive place since 1982, and has continued to work towards making everyone feel welcome and valued in the country.
