IBM is a company that makes things called computers. Like the one you use to play games or do homework. But, IBM has been around since before computers were invented!
A really long time ago, in 1911, a company called the Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company (CTR) was created. This company made machines that helped count things like money and keep track of information.
In 1924, CTR changed its name to International Business Machines (IBM) and started making even more complex machines. They were used for things like sorting and organizing information.
When the first computers were invented in the 1950s, IBM was one of the first companies to make them. These computers filled up entire rooms and were very expensive, but they were important in helping people do calculations and store information.
IBM continued to make advancements in technology, creating smaller and faster computers, and also expanding to other areas, like software and consulting services.
Today, IBM is still one of the biggest technology companies in the world. They have helped shape the way we use computers and technology in our daily lives, and will likely keep doing so for a long time to come!
