History of Laos

Laos is a small country located in Southeast Asia. It's also known as the Land of a Million Elephants. The earliest known people of Laos were the Lao Loum. They were hunters and farmers who lived in the mountainous northern region of Laos.
In the 11th century, many Lao people were united under the kingdom of Lan Xang. During this time, the kingdom prospered and became a powerful Buddhist kingdom in Southeast Asia.
In the 1700s, Laos was taken over by the Burmese and Thais. This lasted until the 19th century when Laos was colonized by the French. This colonization lasted until 1945 when Laos achieved independence. Since then, Laos has been a free country.
Today, Laos is a beautiful country with a rich history. It is a peaceful country filled with friendly people, lush rainforest, and a unique culture.
