Okay kiddo, let's learn about the history of Moncton!
A long time ago, before Moncton even existed, it was the land of the Mi'kmaq people. They lived off the land and water, and had their own traditions and way of life.
Then, in the early 1700s, the French came and built a fort where the Petitcodiac River meets the Bay of Fundy. They called it "Fort Beauséjour". The French and the British fought over it many times, until eventually the British won and changed the name to "Fort Cumberland".
After that, not too much happened in the area for a while. It wasn't until the mid-1800s that Moncton really started to grow. The railway came through, and suddenly Moncton became an important hub for transportation and commerce.
People started moving to Moncton to work and live. The city grew quickly, with new businesses and neighborhoods popping up all over. There were many different cultures living in Moncton, including Irish, Scottish, English, and Acadian.
Over the years, Moncton has seen its fair share of ups and downs. There have been fires, floods, and economic struggles. But through it all, the people of Moncton have persevered, and the city has continued to thrive.
Today, Moncton is a bustling city, full of history, culture, and diversity. It's a great place to live, work, and play!
