Okay kiddo! Pentecostalism is a type of Christian religion where people believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to make them feel joyful and speak in different languages, just like how the apostles did in the Bible on the day of Pentecost. This type of religion first came to India in the early 1900s when American and European missionaries came to spread their beliefs.
They started to preach in different parts of India, often traveling by foot to remote villages to talk to people about their religion. People were curious about this new type of Christianity and some of them decided to follow this way of life.
Over time, these Pentecostal beliefs started to spread and more people started to follow it. In the 1920s, the first Pentecostal church was established in India, and more and more churches started to crop up across the country.
Pentecostalism in India focused on healing miracles, speaking in tongues, and prophesizing. People believed that God could perform miracles, like healing the sick, and the Holy Spirit could give them the ability to speak in languages they didn't know before.
Today, India has one of the largest populations of Pentecostal Christians in the world. Many people find comfort and community in this religion and they continue to practice their beliefs through church services and personal prayers.
