History of democracy in Mexico

So, have you ever played a game with your friends where everyone gets to vote on what game to play next? That's kind of like how democracy works. Everyone gets a say in what happens.

In Mexico, a long time ago, there was a group of people called the Aztecs. They didn't have democracy back then, but they had their own way of doing things. Later on, the Spanish came to Mexico and took over. They didn't give the people much say in what happened, and that lasted for a long time.

It wasn't until the early 1800s that Mexico started to change. People started to want more say in how things were run. They wanted democracy. In 1824, Mexico became what's called a republic, which means that people could vote for their leaders.

But it wasn't always easy. Sometimes the people in charge didn't want to listen to what the people wanted. There were wars and revolutions over the years. But little by little, Mexico became more democratic. People could vote for their leaders, and there were more changes to give people more rights.

Today, Mexico is still working on having a strong democracy, but they've come a long way from when the Aztecs were in charge. It's important for everyone to have a say in what happens, and that's what democracy is all about.
