History of medieval Arabic and Western European domes

Okay kiddo, do you know what a dome is? It's a round or curved thing that covers the top of a building.

In the medieval times, the Arab people and the people from Western Europe had their own styles of building domes.

The Arab people were really good at making big and beautiful domes. They used materials like stone, brick, and mortar to build them. Their domes had intricate designs and patterns, like stars and flowers, which they would decorate with colorful tiles.

The Western Europeans also had their own way of building domes. They would use a technique called Gothic vaulting, which involved using lots of small stones or bricks to create a pointed arch. Their domes were usually smaller than the Arab domes, and were used more for religious buildings like churches.

Over time, these two styles of domes started to mix together, and people created new and unique designs. This led to some really beautiful and complex domes being built, with lots of different shapes and patterns.

So that's the history of medieval Arabic and Western European domes. It's all about how people from different places used their own techniques to create something new and amazing.
