History of music piracy

Hi there! So, back in the day, people used to listen to music on things called CDs. Think of them like shiny, round pancakes that have music on them. But CDs cost money to buy and not everyone had enough money to buy all the music they wanted to listen to.

So, some people found a way to get music for free by making copies of the CDs. This is called piracy. It's kind of like stealing, but instead of taking something physical, you're making a copy of it.

At first, people made copies by using a machine called a CD burner. They would buy one CD and then make many copies of it to share with their friends or sell on the street for a cheaper price. This was a problem because the musicians and record companies who made the music weren't getting paid for all the copies that were being made.

Then, things really started to change when the internet became more popular. People started sharing music online by downloading it and sharing it with their friends. This made things even easier for music piracy because one person could download a song and then share it with thousands of other people with just a few clicks.

Musicians and record companies tried to stop music piracy by suing people who were sharing music illegally, but it was hard to catch everyone who was doing it. They also tried to come up with new ways to sell music that people would be willing to pay for, like digital downloads and streaming services.

Today, music piracy is still a problem, but it's not as widespread as it used to be. Many people are willing to pay for music if they can access it easily and affordably. And musicians and record companies are trying to find new ways to make money in the digital age of music.
