History of science policy

Science policy is the decisions made by governments, universities, businesses and other organizations about how to use science, research, and technology to improve people's lives. It can include decisions about funding for scientific research, laws about new technology, and more. The history of science policy is about how governments, universities, businesses, and other organizations have made decisions in the past about science and technology, and what effect those decisions had. For example, the United States government, universities, and businesses in the 1950s made decisions to invest heavily in research into nuclear science and nuclear energy. This investment helped to develop new technology, like nuclear reactors, which can create energy more safely and efficiently than other sources like coal. This investment in nuclear science changed the way people create and use energy in the present day.
