History of the Hungarian language
Hello! Do you know what language you speak? Do you know what language your friends and family speak? Well, in Hungary, they speak a language called Hungarian!
The history of the Hungarian language goes way way back in time, my little friend. Let's take a trip all the way back to before you, your mom and dad, and even your great-great-great-great grandparents were born!
A really long time ago, the people of Hungary spoke a different language from what we know today as Hungarian. They spoke a language called Uralic. This language was spoken by tribes who lived in the area now known as Finland, Estonia, and Russia. But over time, groups of people moved around and some of them ended up in Hungary.
When these people got to Hungary, they settled and mixed with other people. They started to change their language and create something new. They influenced and were influenced by the cultures they were surrounded by, such as German and Latin. Eventually, the language that formed from these mixtures became known as Hungarian.
So now, the people who live in Hungary and speak Hungarian have been speaking their language for a really long time! And even though there have been some changes over the years, they are still very proud of their unique language and culture.
