History of the oil tanker

Imagine that you have a huge jar of your favorite juice, but it's too heavy for you to carry around. So, you ask your friend to bring you some every day in a small cup, but it's not enough. That's kind of what happened with oil transportation.

In the past, people used to transport oil in smaller boats or barrels, which meant that they had to make many trips to transport a large amount of oil. This was not very efficient and took a lot of time and money.

So, people decided to create a large boat that could carry a lot of oil at once. These boats were called oil tankers. They were designed like big, hollow tubes to hold and transport oil.

At first, tankers were simple and small, but as the demand for oil increased, the technology for building tankers advanced. Today, oil tankers can be over 1,000 feet long and can carry millions of gallons of oil!

The first oil tanker was called the Zoroaster, and it was built in 1878. However, it wasn't until the early 1900s that oil tankers became more widely used. They played a major role in the transportation of oil from countries like the United States and the Middle East to other parts of the world.

Oil tankers helped make it possible for people to use oil for things like fueling cars, heating homes, and powering machines. However, they also posed a risk to the environment, as a leak or spill could cause devastating damage to the ocean and the animals that call it home. This is something that is still a concern today and is taken very seriously by those involved in designing and operating oil tankers.
