Hobart "Hobie" Alter
Okay, little one, Hobie Alter was a very cool man who made something called a "surfboard". A surfboard is a big piece of flat material that people stand on in the ocean and ride on waves.
Hobie was so good at making surfboards that he started his own company called "Hobie Surfboards" in California, USA. He even made surfboards for famous surfers like Phil Edwards and Mickey Muñoz.
But Hobie didn't just make surfboards. He was also very creative and made things like catamaran sailboats, toy gliders and even remote-controlled airplanes!
Hobie was an inventive and fun-loving person who loved being active and enjoying the outdoors. He even started a sport called "Hobie Cat sailing" where people race on small sailboats called "Hobie Cats".
