ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hollow-Face illusion

The hollow-face illusion is a trick that our brains sometimes play on us. It happens when someone looks at a hollow version of their own face - like a mask that shows their features but has a hollow inside. Our brains fill in the details of what the inside should look like, even though it's not really there! This illusion can look very strange and a bit scary, but it's just a harmless trick.
