Holy trinity (cooking)

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a recipe that called for a “holy trinity”? No, not the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, but the holy trinity in cooking!

It’s not a real religious thing, it’s just a way to talk about a group of vegetables that are commonly used together in certain types of cooking. The holy trinity usually refers to onions, celery, and bell peppers.

Why those specific veggies though? Well, they have different flavors that make them work really well together. They also happen to be used in a lot of Cajun and Creole cuisine (food from areas of Louisiana), which is where the term “holy trinity” originated.

It’s important to chop the veggies up small and cook them together in a pan or pot to develop their combined flavors. They can add lots of depth to dishes like gumbo, jambalaya, and even soups and stews.

So there you have it, the holy trinity isn’t as mysterious as it sounds. It’s just a group of veggies chefs like to use together because they taste really good!
