ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Home Recording Rights Coalition

Okay kiddo, you know how when you want to sing or play music at home with your family or friends, you don't want anyone to tell you that you can't do that, right? Well, there's a group of people called the Home Recording Rights Coalition that works to make sure that everyone has the right to record music, just like you do at home.

Sometimes, big companies that make music or movies or TV shows don't want people to record their stuff because then they won't make as much money. But the Home Recording Rights Coalition wants to make sure that people can record things for their own personal use or to share with their friends and family without getting in trouble.

It's kind of like when you draw a picture and you want to show it to your mom and dad, you can do that without anyone telling you that you can't. The Home Recording Rights Coalition is like a big group of people who want to make sure that everyone can share things they make, like music, without anyone getting mad at them.
