Home front during World War I

During World War I, the "Home Front" was the name used to describe the efforts of all the people in a country who were not fighting in the war. They continued to work and contribute and support their country, even though the soldiers were away. Women often took the jobs that the men had left, working in factories and businesses, and growing their own food in gardens. People also donated their time, money and food to help the troops fighting overseas. People also held fundraisers and rallies to support their brave soldiers, and help the families that had lost a loved one.
