ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Homeostatic capacity

Homeostatic capacity is like a cup of water. Your body needs a certain amount of water to stay healthy and it has a certain "capacity" for holding this water. It's like a cup - it can only hold so much. If the cup gets too full, the water will overflow; if it runs out, it won't be able to do its job. Homeostatic capacity is how much your body can hold and use - it's the amount of energy or material that it can keep and use. So, if your body is able to maintain a certain balance (or "homeostasis"), it means that your homeostatic capacity is working properly and you're healthy!
