ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Homunculus argument

The homunculus argument is the idea that something can't create itself. It's like an endless loop with no beginning. It's like saying that a person can't build a house without help from other people. To build a house, you need help from carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and other workers. Likewise, the homunculus argument says that something can't create itself without help from something else. As an example, you can't create a person without help from other people. So, in the same way, the homunculus argument says that something (like the universe) can't have created itself without the help of something else.
