ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hooah

So, Hooah is a word that soldiers say to show they understand and agree with what their leader is saying. It's kind of like saying "yes" or "got it."

Imagine you're playing a game with your friends and your coach gives you a plan to win. You might say "Got it, coach!" That's kind of like what soldiers say when they say "Hooah!"

It's a way for them to show that they're paying attention and ready to do what they need to do to complete their mission. It's a way for them to say "I'm on it!" or "I understand what we need to do."

Sometimes soldiers also use Hooah to show enthusiasm and motivation. Like if your team is down but you need to keep going, you might say "Let's go team!" That's kind of like when soldiers say "Hooah!" to pump themselves up and show they're ready to take on whatever challenge comes their way.
