Hot Standby Routing Protocol

Hot standby routing protocol is a way of keeping a backup connection, in case the main connection goes down. Imagine you have a laptop and it usually connects to the internet through a wifi connection. But if that wifi connection stops working, the laptop can switch to using a cell phone connection so you're still able to get online. Hot standby routing protocol is like that - it's like a backup connection that kicks in if the regular connection stops working.
